Project: Ordering #1 (Sans/Soleil)

Ordering #1 (Sans/Soleil) is a reworking of Chris Marker's "Sans Soleil" (1983) in which the film is reprocessed through an algorithmic system, reordering the original's frames in sequence of luminosity. It moves from the darkest frames of the film's opening to those of maximal brightness, over the original running time of 1'39"27. In doing so, the film's original structure is fractured and reconstructed, producing new patterns and sequences from which new transient narratives emerge.
